De-Quam Residence is a Private modern residence designed to capture the endless possibility of the shaded glass box concept.
The building was designed on a corner plot land, with the long strong glazed facade facing the prominent side of the road. This long side of the building, is characterised by the stong use of horizontal elements which serve to amplify the dominance of the building, support the steel pergola elements and provide overhead pool lighting. Our use of vertical shading elements offered the opportunity to ease down the strong horizontal elements visually.
De-Quam residence is designed on a foot print of 191m2. It consists of 3 floors, with the first floor spanning out as a shading for the ground floor and providing the pent floor a generous terrace space.
The building is characterised by its long linear form designed to close-in the private landscaped and pool area, this offers the opportunity for the indoor spaces to have a visual link with the outdoor space through the large expanse of shaded glass facade.
The form of the building on a vertical plane, is simply a play of a large overhanging box. This overhung box (first floor) sits on a smaller box (ground floor), thus shading the glazed lower floor completely. The overhung first floor is characterised by the extended horizontal elements and steel pergolas, which all serve to shade it in. The pent floor recedes as a smaller box, creating a generous terrace space for the master bedroom, while the use of our projected steel pergola hung from the roof parapet walls, offer the desired shading for the pent floor spaces.
De-Quam residence is made up of living spaces and private living designed to open up into the pool deck on the ground floor; 3 bedrooms, a movie room and children play area on the first floor with a comfortably zoned off master bedroom on the pent floor.
